The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) will introduce a new online marriage registration portal from August 1, 2026, making the registration process simpler, faster, more transparent and completely paperless. As part of the transition, marriage registration services will remain suspended on July 31.
Currently, marriages registered under the Gujarat Marriage Act, 2006 are processed through AMC’s 48 ward offices. Applicants must collect the application form from the concerned ward office, submit it along with the required documents, and complete the process in person. After verification, the details are uploaded to AMC’s system and the marriage certificate is issued.
Under the new system, applicants will be able to complete most of the process online through a dedicated portal on AMC’s official website. They can fill out the application, upload documents, track the application status and book a convenient date and time for physical verification.
After the documents are verified, the couple can schedule an appointment at the concerned ward office, where both the bride and groom must appear in person, sign the marriage register and pay the registration fee online.
Once the process is completed, applicants will be able to download a digitally signed marriage certificate with photographs of both the bride and groom through the portal.
The new portal will be available on AMC’s official website from August 1, while the existing marriage registration system will be discontinued from July 31. To facilitate the transition, marriage registration services will remain closed for one day on July 31.
