Following the recent heavy rains in Ahmedabad, hundreds of vehicles lost their number plates after passing through waterlogged roads. To help motorists, the Ahmedabad Police collected more than 500 number plates found on city roads and deposited them at the nearest police stations.
Vehicle owners who have lost or damaged their number plates have been asked to visit the nearest police station and register a complaint. To reclaim a recovered number plate, motorists should carry their vehicle registration certificate (RC), driving licence, and a valid identity proof.
If the original number plate cannot be recovered, a copy of the police complaint will be required while applying for a replacement number plate.
So far, Ahmedabad Police has successfully returned more than 200 number plates to their rightful owners and has urged the remaining vehicle owners to contact the nearest police station to check if their number plate has been recovered.
