The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has intensified its crackdown on unsafe buildings following the July 18 fire incident, launching a city-wide drive to check fire safety compliance and the legal status of properties.
As part of the campaign, AMC sealed 25 properties on Tuesday during a joint operation by the Estate Department and the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services.The civic body said the action was taken over suspected fire safety violations and illegal construction. The properties were sealed as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety.
Officials said detailed inspections are underway. If violations of fire safety norms, building regulations, or other legal provisions are confirmed, strict action will be taken against the property owners.Of the 25 properties, 18 were sealed by the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services for alleged fire safety violations, while seven were sealed by the Estate Department for illegal construction and related irregularities.
AMC said the drive against unsafe and unauthorized properties will continue across the city in the coming days.
