The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has suspended 13 contract drivers after a surprise inspection found them violating safety rules and misbehaving with passengers. The action is part of AMC’s efforts to make the city’s public transport system safer and more passenger-friendly.
The suspended drivers include 10 from Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) and 3 from the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS).
During the inspection, officials found several violations, including not stopping buses at designated bus stops, skipping waiting passengers, behaving rudely with commuters, and driving above the speed limit, putting passengers at risk.
AMC said the strict action is meant to improve passenger safety and serve as a warning to other contract drivers to follow traffic rules and provide better service.
