Fresh geopolitical tensions following the escalating conflict between the US and Iran rattled Indian equity markets on Wednesday after US President Donald Trump declared that there would be “no deal” with Iran. The remarks intensified investor concerns, triggering a sharp sell-off across the markets.
The Sensex plunged more than 1,800 points, while the Nifty dropped over 550 points during intraday trade, wiping out significant investor wealth.
The Sensex, which had closed at 78,180.72 on Tuesday, tumbled to 76,382.25, marking a decline of nearly 1,800 points. Similarly, the Nifty, after ending the previous session at 24,398.70, opened lower at 24,259.55 before slipping further to 23,844.50, down more than 550 points.The steep fall reflected heightened investor anxiety over the worsening geopolitical situation, leading to heavy losses across the broader market.
