More than 16.35 lakh students were enrolled in schools across Gujarat during the three-day Shala Praveshotsav, the State Government’s annual school enrolment drive, held from June 23 to 25. The campaign covered 25,625 villages and 37,211 schools, with the objective of bringing every eligible child into the education system.
Addressing the concluding event of the drive on Thursday, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel said the government’s aim is to achieve 100 per cent enrolment of eligible children while ensuring a zero dropout rate at every stage of school education. He said the enrolment campaign is an important initiative to strengthen the state’s education system and encourage every child to attend school.
The Chief Minister participated in the Shala Praveshotsav at two schools in the Sanand area of Ahmedabad district, where he appealed to parents to give equal importance to their children’s education and future while working towards their family’s financial well-being.
Patel also said the perception of government schools in Gujarat has undergone a significant transformation over the years. He remarked that admissions to several government schools now often require recommendations because of the growing demand, describing it as a major achievement of the state’s education policy.
