The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has announced traffic diversions and road restrictions in parts of the city’s western and eastern zones to facilitate ongoing infrastructure projects, urging commuters to use alternate routes during the construction period.
In the western zone, the stretch between D-Cabin Underpass and Chenpur in Ranip ward has been closed from June 19 to June 25 for the laying of a rising main pipeline. The civic body said the road will remain shut for approximately seven days until the work is completed.
During this period, two-wheelers, light motor vehicles and other commuters travelling from D-Cabin Underpass towards New Ranip via Chenpur have been advised to use the Kaligam–New Ranip–Khodiyar Temple route. Those heading towards Chenpur can also access the area through the Tragad Underpass via Godrej Garden City.
Meanwhile, in the eastern zone, AMC has initiated work to install trunk main drainage lines using trenchless technology along the Naroda–Narol Highway to address drainage-related issues. The project involves micro-tunneling work on the service road connecting Naroda Mahavir Swami Jain Derasar, Galaxy Underpass, Naroda Bethak and Naroda Patiya.
As a result, the nearly two-kilometre service road stretch between Naroda Galaxy Underpass and Naroda Patiya has been closed to heavy vehicles from June 19 and is expected to remain restricted for approximately nine months, or until the completion of the project.
The restriction applies to heavy vehicles, including GSRTC buses, AMTS buses and BRTS services. However, the service road will continue to remain accessible for two-wheelers, auto-rickshaws, cars and other light vehicles.
AMC officials said the infrastructure works are essential for improving utility services and addressing long-standing drainage concerns in the affected areas. The civic body has appealed to residents and commuters to cooperate with authorities, follow traffic advisories and use designated alternative routes to avoid inconvenience.
