A fire broke out in the basement of a commercial building near H.B. Kapadia School on Gurukul Road on Monday morning, triggering a swift response from the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services. No injuries or casualties were reported in the incident.
According to fire officials, the Fire Control Room received a call about the blaze at 11.17 am, following which firefighting teams were immediately dispatched. The first fire vehicle left the station within minutes.
The incident took place at Shantidayal Apartment, where a cake shop operates. Preliminary reports indicate that the fire originated in Shop No. 1 located in the basement, where furniture-related work was reportedly being carried out.
Officials suspect the blaze may have been caused by a lamp or open flame associated with a temple inside the premises. However, the exact cause is yet to be confirmed and remains under investigation.
A total of eight emergency vehicles, including a mini fire-fighter, two 20,000-litre water tankers, an Emergency Medical Team (EMT) vehicle and four first-responder units, were deployed to the site. Around 33 fire personnel were involved in the operation.
Firefighters managed to control the blaze in time and prevented it from spreading to other parts of the building. Authorities confirmed that no one was injured in the incident.
An assessment of the damage caused by the fire is currently underway, while officials continue to investigate the circumstances that led to the outbreak.
