The Gujarat government’s Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department has initiated plans for a new four-lane bypass around Balasinor town in Mahisagar district and has invited bids for consultancy services to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) and conduct a feasibility study for the project.
The proposed Balasinor Bypass will stretch approximately 7.33 kilometres and is aimed at improving traffic movement while reducing congestion within the town. The road is expected to divert through traffic away from densely populated areas, enhancing both road safety and travel efficiency.
According to the tender documents, the appointed consultant will be responsible for carrying out feasibility assessments, preparing the DPR and overseeing key pre-construction activities, including land acquisition processes, forest clearances and utility relocation.
The project will incorporate advanced survey and planning technologies. LiDAR-based mapping will be used for precise terrain surveys, while Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) technology will help identify underground utility networks. Road safety audits will also be conducted at different stages of planning and design.
The consultancy contract is estimated at ₹92 lakh and will be supervised by the Mahisagar (R&B) Division in Lunawada. The consultancy assignment is expected to be completed within 18 months.
Officials said the study will evaluate the technical and financial viability of the bypass before the project moves to the construction stage. The proposed design also includes service roads in inhabited stretches, proper drainage infrastructure and a 60-metre right of way (RoW) to accommodate future expansion requirements.
