Domestic LPG cylinder prices have been increased by ₹29, with the revised rates coming into force from midnight on Saturday, adding to the burden on household budgets.
Following the latest revision, the price of a 14.2-kg domestic LPG cylinder in Delhi has gone up from ₹913 to ₹942. In several other regions, prices have increased from around ₹918 to ₹947, depending on local taxes and transportation charges.
This marks the second hike in domestic LPG prices in the last three months. Earlier, on March 7, household LPG cylinder prices were increased by ₹60. With the latest revision, consumers will now pay ₹89 more for a domestic cylinder compared to three months ago.
According to state-owned oil marketing companies, the increase has been necessitated by rising global energy prices and continued under-recoveries on the sale of domestic LPG cylinders. Industry estimates suggest that oil companies were incurring losses of nearly ₹703 on every household cylinder sold, with the latest price hike expected to partially offset those losses.
The previous increase in domestic LPG prices was announced on April 8, 2025, when rates were raised by ₹50 per cylinder. Commercial LPG cylinder prices were also revised upward by up to ₹31 on March 1, 2026.
Meanwhile, the price of the 5-kg domestic LPG cylinder has been increased by ₹11, taking its retail price to ₹821.50.
The latest hike is expected to further increase household expenses, particularly at a time when consumers are already grappling with rising prices of essential goods and services.
