Relief from the scorching summer heat is on the horizon as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted widespread rain, thunderstorms and strong winds across Gujarat over the next three days.
According to the forecast, several parts of the state are likely to experience light to moderate rainfall accompanied by lightning and gusty winds until June 5.
For June 3, the IMD has issued a weather alert for north Gujarat and Kutch, where wind speeds may reach 50-60 kmph. Districts under the warning include Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Dahod, Panchmahal and Kheda.
In central and south Gujarat, including Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Anand, Vadodara, Bharuch and Surat, as well as parts of the Saurashtra region, thunderstorms, lightning and scattered showers are expected along with winds ranging between 40 and 50 kmph.
Weather conditions are likely to intensify on June 4, with rain, thunderstorms and strong winds forecast across most regions of Gujarat, including Saurashtra and north Gujarat.
By June 5, the weather activity is expected to be concentrated mainly over south Gujarat and the eastern districts. Areas such as Valsad, Navsari, Dang, Tapi, Surat, Bharuch, Narmada, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Amreli and Bhavnagar may receive isolated rainfall accompanied by winds of 40-50 kmph.
The IMD has advised residents to exercise caution during periods of thunderstorm activity and strong winds, especially in areas covered under the higher wind-speed alert.
