The Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has taken swift action against the Bodakdev outlet of Mocha Cafe, sealing it after multiple customers reported finding insects in their food and beverages. This troubling news emerged as four to five diners filed complaints with the AMC’s food department.
One frustrated customer described spotting insects in their coffee, while another complained about contamination in their meal. In response to these alarming reports, AMC officials sealed the cafe pending a thorough investigation to ensure compliance with food safety and public health regulations. The authorities are now examining cleanliness practices, pest control measures, and overall food handling standards at the establishment.
This isn’t isolated; Mocha has a history with hygiene issues. Back in November 2025, a different Mocha outlet was fined ₹25,000 for similar concerns when insects were discovered in a chapati basket served to patrons.
The latest incident at Bodakdev adds to an ongoing pattern of food safety enforcement by AMC across Ahmedabad. Recently, several eateries have faced penalties or even closure due to unhygienic conditions and contamination complaints.
