The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has started demolition and reconstruction work on Subhash Bridge over the Sabarmati River in the western zone of the city.
As part of the ongoing work, AMC officials said the Riverfront road on the eastern side has been completely closed for all vehicles from Sheetal Aqua apartments to ISKCON Riverside apartments to ensure public safety and avoid inconvenience during the demolition process.
The Lower Promenade walkway in front of Subhash Bridge has also been shut for pedestrians and visitors until the work is completed.
To reduce traffic disruption, AMC has announced alternate routes for commuters. Motorists travelling from the Sheetal Aqua side can use the road on the right and continue towards the Riverfront through an alternative route.
Similarly, commuters coming from the ISKCON Riverside side can take the left-side connecting road towards the Riverfront area.
Officials said the traffic restrictions are likely to remain in place until the demolition and reconstruction work is completed. Citizens who regularly use the Riverfront route have been advised to plan their travel in advance and expect delays during peak hours.
Authorities have appealed to residents to cooperate with traffic arrangements and follow instructions issued by the traffic police. Citizens have also been advised to avoid unnecessary travel near the Subhash Bridge area and use alternate roads to prevent congestion.
Officials added that emergency services and local access roads will remain operational during the construction period to minimise inconvenience for nearby residents. Barricades and warning signs have also been installed around the site to ensure smooth traffic management and public safety.
