International travel options from Ahmedabad are set to grow further as direct flights to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, will begin from June 16. The new service will be operated by Azerbaijan Airlines after Ahmedabad Airport recently hinted at a new international destination through a social media teaser.
The airline will operate four direct flights every week between Ahmedabad and Baku using an Airbus A319 aircraft. Flight bookings for the route have already started on the airline’s website, with economy fares beginning at around $150.
In a post on X, Ahmedabad Airport teased the new route by describing a destination “where ancient flames meet futuristic skylines,” strongly indicating Baku as the upcoming international connection.
Flights from Ahmedabad to Baku will run on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The flight will depart Ahmedabad at 2:20 am and arrive in Baku at 5:40 am local time, taking around 4 hours and 50 minutes.
Return flights from Baku to Ahmedabad will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. These flights will leave Baku at 7:50 pm and reach Ahmedabad at 1:20 am the next day, with a travel time of nearly four hours.
The new route is expected to improve international connectivity for travellers from Gujarat and boost tourism to the Caucasus region, which has become increasingly popular among Indian tourists.
