Spandan Modi, known for his roles in films like Jayeshbhai Jordaar and Thugs of Hindostan, was arrested by Ahmedabad Police after being a wanted fugitive for nearly a decade. The actor, whose real name is Hemant Modi, had been on the run since he jumped parole in 2014.
The trouble began back in 2005 when Hemant was implicated in a murder case in Naroda. Following his conviction, he received a life sentence. While serving time, the mental toll led him to divorce his wife, believing he’d spend the rest of his life behind bars.
In 2014, he was released on parole but quickly vanished instead of returning to prison. Changing his identity to pursue acting, he moved to Mumbai and found some success in both Gujarati and Hindi cinema. Despite sharing screens with stars like Ranveer Singh and Amitabh Bachchan, no one recognized him as the criminal on the run.
After years without any leads, Ahmedabad Police finally caught a break. Authorities received a tip-off that connected them to Spandan Modi’s whereabouts in Ahmedabad. Acting quickly on this information, they apprehended him.
This unexpected turn raises eyebrows not just about his past but also about how someone with such serious charges could integrate into public life unnoticed for so long.
