Nine two-wheelers were gutted in a fire reportedly caused by an LPG cylinder explosion at a tea kiosk near the Iskcon flyover on SG Highway in Ahmedabad on Wednesday evening. No injuries or casualties were reported, officials said.
According to the fire department, the incident took place around 7:50 pm at a tea stall located on the service road opposite Wide Angle near Iskcon Circle. The kiosk, operated by a differently abled person, was closed when the fire broke out.
Preliminary investigations suggest that an LPG gas leak inside the stall may have triggered the cylinder blast, which quickly turned into a major fire.
The flames soon spread to nearby vehicles parked at the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s pay-and-park facility next to the kiosk.
Officials said four scooters and five motorcycles parked near the stall were completely destroyed before firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control.
The area was covered in thick smoke, forcing authorities to temporarily shut the service road to ensure public safety and allow firefighting operations.
After receiving alerts from local residents, two fire tenders rushed to the spot. Firefighters carried out an extended operation to douse the flames and secured the leaking gas connection to prevent another explosion.
