To enhance passenger convenience, Western Railway has shifted the terminal station of its weekly AC Special trains running between Mumbai Central and Ahmedabad from Vatva to Maninagar station.
After reviewing passenger feedback and operational needs, the railway authorities announced that Train No. 09082 (Maninagar–Mumbai Central AC Superfast Special) and Train No. 09081 (Mumbai Central–Maninagar AC Superfast Special) will now originate and terminate at Maninagar instead of Vatva.
Under the revised schedule, Train No. 09082 will depart from Maninagar every Friday at 10:40 pm and arrive at Mumbai Central at 7:10 am the next day. Meanwhile, Train No. 09081 will leave Mumbai Central every Thursday at 11:20 pm and reach Maninagar at 7:25 am the following morning. These special services will operate from May 15 to May 26, 2026.
According to Western Railway officials, shifting the terminal to Maninagar is expected to improve accessibility for passengers travelling from Ahmedabad and surrounding areas.
Maninagar station offers better connectivity, enhanced passenger amenities, and easier access to public transport compared to Vatva. The trains will halt at Vadodara, Surat, Vapi, and Borivali in both directions. Ticket bookings are available through PRS counters and the IRCTC website.
The move is likely to benefit commuters from central and eastern Ahmedabad due to Maninagar’s superior road connectivity and proximity to major residential and commercial hubs.
Western Railway said such operational changes are periodically introduced to improve passenger experience on the busy Mumbai–Ahmedabad corridor.
Passengers have been advised to check the updated schedule before travelling and book tickets in advance owing to high demand for the AC special services.
