At least two people lost their lives and 13 others were injured after a private luxury bus collided head-on with a truck on the Mehsana–Rajasthan highway near Motidau in Mehsana early Tuesday morning.
According to officials, the accident occurred when the bus, travelling towards Ahmedabad, allegedly entered the wrong side of the road at high speed and crashed into an oncoming truck.
The impact of the collision was severe, completely damaging the front portions of both vehicles. Eyewitnesses said panic spread across the highway as passengers screamed for help immediately after the crash.
Local residents and passers-by rushed to the spot and began rescue operations before emergency teams arrived.
Police said two passengers died on the spot, while 13 others suffered injuries ranging from minor to serious.
The injured were shifted to Mehsana Civil Hospital and nearby private hospitals through 108 ambulance services. Doctors said the condition of some injured passengers remains critical.
