A major infrastructure project in Ahmedabad is close to completion, bringing relief to daily commuters. The 4-km-long elevated corridor on SG Highway, from Sanand Circle to Iscon Flyover, is expected to open around July 1.
Built at a cost of about ₹500 crore, the corridor is designed to handle nearly two lakh vehicles every day. It will help drivers avoid key traffic congestion points like Karnavati Club, Prahladnagar, and YMCA, making travel smoother on this busy route.
To reduce disturbance for nearby residents and businesses, the project includes a special noise-control system to limit traffic sound.
For the past two years, construction caused a 1.5-km diversion, leading to delays of 30 to 60 minutes, especially for people travelling from Saurashtra to Ahmedabad.
Officials plan to remove the diversion and reopen the road below the flyover by June 1, improving traffic flow towards Iscon Cross Roads even before the full opening.
Once operational, the corridor is expected to save time and fuel, and also help emergency services like ambulances move faster through the area.
