Three female students of a private nursing college near Tramba village were injured on Friday after a ceiling fan collapsed inside the college library, sparking protests by students over alleged negligence by the management.
The incident took place around 10 am when the ceiling fan reportedly came loose and fell on the students. The injured students — Rinku Deshani, Dhara Rathya and Asmita Vaghela — suffered injuries to their heads and foreheads and were immediately taken to a nearby private hospital for treatment.
According to doctors, all three students required stitches but were later discharged after receiving primary medical care.
Following the incident, the college administration announced an immediate vacation and stated that renovation work would be carried out due to concerns regarding the condition of the building.
The incident led to protests on the campus, with students confronting the college chairman and demanding action against the management for alleged negligence. Students also raised concerns about the deteriorating condition of the college infrastructure, including the girls’ hostel and other facilities.
No police complaint has been lodged in connection with the incident so far.
