Ahmedabad, April 27, 2026: City Police Commissioner G.S. Malik has announced significant traffic restrictions across Ahmedabad on April 28 to facilitate the counting of votes for the Local Self-Government Elections.
The new measures come under the Gujarat Police Act, 1951, and the Gujarat Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989. These regulations aim to ensure smooth traffic flow and maintain order during what promises to be a busy day with large crowds expected at counting venues.
Counting will occur at two primary locations:
- L.D. Engineering College near Gujarat University in Navrangpura
- Gujarat College Campus in Ellisbridge
Given the anticipated turnout, strict traffic management is crucial.
Road Closures and Diversions
Navrangpura (L.D. Engineering College Area)
The section from L.D. Engineering College’s main gate to Dadasaheb Pagla Crossroads will be closed off entirely to vehicles.
Alternative routes include:
- Dadasaheb Pagla Crossroads via A.G. Chowki, S.V. Desai Marg, St. Xavier’s College Road, Surajmal Zaveri Marg toward Panjrapole.
- Dadasaheb Pagla via Vijay Crossroads; turn left then right from Helmet Crossroads under Andhjan Mandal overbridge toward Panjrapole Crossroads.
Ellisbridge (Gujarat College Area)
The stretch from Inder Residency T-point up to Kavi Nanalal Overbridge will also see a closure.
Alternate routes here are:
- Town Hall Crossroads → Inder Residency T-point → Kalgi Crossroads.
