Tensions flared in Jhagadia GIDC of Gujarat’s Bharuch district after a confrontation between AAP MLA Chaitar Vasava and the family of a blast victim turned physical, with both sides allegedly slapping each other during a heated exchange.
The incident took place when the MLA visited the Metropolitan Exichem plant following the April 23 explosion that injured more than 10 workers and killed a worker, Rakesh Vasava.
The tragedy had already sparked anger among locals, which intensified during the MLA’s visit.Reports suggest that the victim’s family opposed the MLA’s presence, leading to a verbal argument that quickly escalated into a physical altercation in public view.
Police personnel present at the site stepped in to control the situation, while videos of the clash, recorded by bystanders, have gone viral on social media.
The episode has shifted attention from the industrial accident to concerns over law and order, even as investigations into the cause of the blast and workplace safety standards remain underway.
