In a fresh food safety scare, a customer has alleged finding a live insect in garlic bread purchased from a pizza outlet in Ahmedabad. The incident has sparked outrage, with the customer approaching the police and lodging a complaint with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
According to details, the incident occurred at a ‘Taranovas Pizza’ outlet in the Sattadhar–Vastrapur area near Surdhara Circle. The customer had ordered pizza and garlic bread when he noticed a live insect on the bread while eating, prompting him to confront the staff over alleged negligence.
The complainant, reportedly a lawyer, submitted a written application to the police under Sections 274 and 275 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, accusing the outlet of endangering public health and seeking strict action.
A separate complaint has also been filed with the civic body’s Food Safety Department. Photos showing the insect in the food have surfaced on social media, further fuelling public concern over hygiene standards.
The incident has once again raised serious questions about food safety compliance and monitoring of eateries in the city.
