Four members of a Vadodara-based family were killed and one person critically injured after their car reportedly lost control and jumped the central divider on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Panchmahal district on Monday, police said.
The family was returning from Rajasthan when the accident occurred near Kalol. According to officials, the vehicle, believed to be speeding, went out of control after the driver lost grip on the steering. It then crossed the divider and entered the opposite carriageway, leading to a devastating collision.Locals rushed to the scene and informed the police, following which rescue operations were carried out to pull out those trapped inside the mangled vehicle. Four occupants were declared dead on the spot, while another sustained serious injuries.
The deceased have been identified as Sajid Iqbal Khinji (55), Ilyas Iqbal Khinji (50), Ishaq Iqbal Khinji (48), and Rehan Azgar Khinji (35), all residents of Vadodara.
The bodies were shifted to Kalol Referral Hospital for postmortem.Kalol Police has registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
