Ahmedabad’s preparations for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad bullet train project are ramping up, and it’s causing some significant disruptions. A traffic and power block will take place on April 19, starting at noon, as railway authorities work on launching a third precast portal beam near Maninagar station. This construction is crucial for progress but comes with a price for commuters.
The Mumbai–Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Express will see its operations partially impacted during this time. On April 19, passengers traveling on this service should note that it will only run as far as Vatva. On its return trip, the train will leave from Ahmedabad (Kalupur) station instead of its usual schedule.
Several other trains are feeling the squeeze too. Two MEMU services—Train No. 69102 from Vatva to Vadodara and Train No. 69115 from Vadodara back to Vatva—are completely cancelled on that day. Additionally, the Vadodara–Jamnagar Intercity service (Train No. 22959) will be scrapped on April 18, while its counterpart (Train No. 22960) won’t operate on April 19.
Some trains aren’t fully cancelled but will face delays due to this traffic block. For instance, Train No. 19484 Asansol–Ahmedabad Express and Train No. 12834 Howrah–Ahmedabad Express are expected to be delayed by about an hour and forty minutes between Vadodara and Ahmedabad. The Secunderabad–Rajkot Superfast Express (Train No. 22718) might also run late by approximately forty-five minutes.
In total, at least five trains will experience disruptions due to the planned block—something travelers should keep in mind as they prepare for their journeys.
