Surat: In response to a significant uptick in passenger traffic during the summer vacation, Western Railway has rolled out four additional special trains aimed at easing congestion on busy routes. This initiative comes as travel demand surges across key destinations.
Two of the newly introduced trains will operate from Udhna, primarily serving passengers and migrant workers in South Gujarat. The first is the Udhna–Santragachi Special (Train No. 09053/09054), which will run on April 20 and 25 from Udhna to Santragachi, with return trips scheduled for April 22 and 27. This train features a total of 22 coaches built under the Amrit Bharat scheme and will stop at major stations including Nandurbar, Bhusaval, Nagpur, Raipur, Bilaspur, and Kharagpur.
Additionally, an unreserved service named Udhna–Jaynagar–Udhna (Train No. 09061/09062) is set for one round trip on April 19 for the outbound journey and April 20 for the return. This train consists entirely of general coaches to maximize passenger capacity.
A second unreserved TOD special train will also run between Udhna and Madhubani (Train No. 09067/09068). It departs Udhna on April 19 and returns from Madhubani on April 20, aiming to assist those traveling towards Bihar.
The Mumbai Central station is not left out either. A bi-weekly superfast service (Train No. 09085/09086) between Mumbai Central and Indore will operate every Monday and Friday from April 20 through May 29. It’s expected to make twelve trips with stops at Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Vadodara, Dahod, Ratlam, and Ujjain.
Also launching is a weekly superfast route (Train No. 09087/09088) operating every Wednesday from Mumbai Central to Ahmedabad and every Thursday back from Ahmedabad between April 22 and May 28.
To aid passengers further, railway officials have ordered station masters to display schedules prominently and ensure timely announcements are made regarding these services. Booking for these special trains will commence as per their respective schedules via the Passenger Reservation System (PRS).
This surge in services underscores Western Railway’s commitment to enhancing travel options during peak periods. Passengers are encouraged to plan ahead using these additional resources as summer approaches.
