The Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) has uncovered a prostitution racket operating under the cover of a massage parlour in the Kudasan area of Gandhinagar. The raid was carried out at King The Luxury Hammam Spa, located in the Swagat Rain Forest-2 complex, leading to the detention of its operator, Jalpa Bhaveshbhai Makwana, a resident of Ahmedabad. Further investigation is ongoing.
Acting on a tip-off, AHTU officials verified the information by sending a decoy customer to the spa. The individual was provided with ₹500 notes with recorded serial numbers before entering the premises.
Police said the decoy customer requested both massage and sexual services, which the operator allegedly agreed to provide. Following a pre-arranged signal, the AHTU team raided the spa.
During the operation, one woman was found in a room, and the marked currency notes were recovered. Subsequent searches led to the rescue of three more women from the staff room.
Preliminary findings indicate that the women were from different regions, including Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Ahmedabad, and Mizoram. According to police, the victims stated they were paid a monthly sum by the operator to engage in prostitution.
Authorities also seized ₹5,000 in cash from the premises. A case has been registered against Makwana, and further legal proceedings are underway.
