Temperatures continued to rise across Gujarat, with several cities experiencing higher-than-normal heat, signalling a strong start to the summer season.
According to the latest India Meteorological Department report, inland areas were the worst affected. Rajkot recorded the highest temperature at 42.4°C, which is 3.1°C above normal. Ahmedabad saw a high of 41.0°C (1.6°C above normal), while Vadodara recorded 41.4°C, 2.3°C above normal.
Other cities including Amreli (41.7°C), Bhuj (40.8°C), Gandhinagar (40.6°C), and Deesa (40.2°C) also crossed the 40°C mark, showing widespread heat across north and central parts of the state.
In contrast, coastal regions remained relatively cooler due to sea influence. Dwarka recorded 31.0°C, Veraval 31.2°C, and Diu 36.0°C, though Porbandar still reported temperatures significantly above normal.
Night temperatures also stayed higher than usual in several cities, including Ahmedabad (27.0°C) and Vadodara (26.6°C), leading to warmer nights and less relief from the daytime heat.
Humidity remained moderate to high in coastal areas, while interior regions saw lower evening humidity, adding to the discomfort.
The rising trend suggests that temperatures may continue to climb, with heatwave-like conditions likely in the coming days if the pattern persists.
