Vadodara – The new bullet train station in Anand will reflect the city’s identity as India’s ‘Milk City.’ Officials from the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) announced plans on Monday that highlight the station’s design, which is inspired by the shape and color of milk droplets.
The station will stand at 25.6 meters tall and cover a built-up area of 44,073 square meters. It’s set to feature three levels, including two side platforms and four tracks in between. Modern passenger amenities are part of the plan, with features like ticketing areas, restrooms, a nursery, information booths, and retail spaces.
Natural light will flood the interior thanks to skylights on both the roof and exterior. Access won’t be an issue either; dedicated pick-up and drop-off zones are being created alongside parking facilities for cars, bikes, rickshaws, and buses. A pedestrian plaza is also in development for added convenience.
In terms of connectivity, Uttarsanda railway station is just about 600 meters east of the site while Nadiad Junction—an important rail hub—is around 10 kilometers away. This location aims to serve as a multimodal transport hub for quicker connections across various transportation methods.
Progress on construction has been notable. According to officials involved in the project, slab casting for all three levels is complete along with structural steel work for the roof. Installation of lifts and escalators is also done while cladding work continues.
