The BCCI has revised the IPL 2026 schedule in view of upcoming local body elections in Ahmedabad and other parts of Gujarat. To ensure smooth security and logistics during the polling period, the board has decided to swap venues for the matches between Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings.
The day game scheduled for April 26 at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium will now be played at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium, with the timing unchanged at 3:30 PM. In return, the May 21 fixture, originally planned in Chennai, will now take place in Ahmedabad as a night match starting at 7:30 PM.
The change ensures that fans in both cities still get to watch their teams play at home, though on different dates.
The BCCI said the decision was taken to avoid clashes with election activities and to ensure the safety of players and spectators.
