Gujarat University has postponed several examinations due to ongoing local body elections, citing the deployment of staff and officials for poll duties as the key reason.
The university had originally planned undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) semester exams in five phases. While two phases have already been completed, the remaining three have now been rescheduled.
As per the revised timetable, exams that were to begin on April 16 will now start from May 1. Those scheduled for April 24 have been deferred to May 12, while exams planned for early May will now commence from May 21.
Examinations for MA Semester 3; BA, BCom, BSc, BBA, BCA, and BRS Semesters 4 and 6; integrated courses across Semesters 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10; LLB Semester 2; and BEd Semester 2 will now begin from May 1.
Further, Semester 2 exams for MA, MCom, MSc, ALW, MRS, MMCJ, ADC, and MEd, along with several UG courses such as BA, BCom, BSc, BBA, and BCA, will commence from May 12. Semester 4 examinations under the New Education Policy (NEP) for UG courses will also start on the same date.
The final phase, covering various UG, PG, and diploma programmes under NEP, will begin from May 21.
Overall, the examination schedule has been pushed back by around 15 to 20 days.
In a related development, the schedule for the Diploma to Degree Common Entrance Test (DDCET) has also been revised. The exam will now be conducted in two phases instead of a single day, with the diploma-to-degree (D2D) engineering test on May 5 and the D2D pharmacy exam on May 9.
