Ahmedabad’s fight against dust pollution took a significant step forward on Saturday when the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) sealed three under-construction buildings in the Gota ward. This decisive action aims to enhance urban safety and improve air quality.
The closure comes after developers at the Evera, S Plus, and Solo Bliss 2 sites failed to comply with mandatory regulations. These include not installing green nets and appropriate barricading meant to control dust emissions. A surprise inspection by AMC’s Estate and Town Development Officer (TDO) team in the North West Zone revealed clear violations of the city’s Good Construction Practice Policy.
But that wasn’t all. The Solo Bliss project also received a hefty fine of ₹1 lakh after authorities discovered construction materials spilling onto nearby roads, creating a serious traffic hazard. The crackdown didn’t stop there; other local construction sites faced penalties as well. In Bodakdev, one site was fined ₹50,000 for excessive dust pollution. Meanwhile, a developer in Thaltej ward was hit with a ₹1 lakh fine for failing to meet safety standards.
This enforcement drive is part of AMC’s larger initiative to ensure compliance among construction projects across Ahmedabad, aiming for cleaner air and safer environments for residents.
