The Delhi Crime Branch raided a factory in the Kanjhawala area of North-West Delhi on April 3, 2026, and uncovered a racket producing fake toothpaste under the Sensodyne brand.
During the operation, officials seized a large quantity of counterfeit toothpaste, along with machinery and raw materials used in its production.
According to police, the fake toothpaste was being made in highly unhygienic conditions at a warehouse in Mahavir Vihar. Low-quality paste was filled into empty tubes, sealed with machines, and packed in Sensodyne boxes to be sold as genuine products, posing serious health risks.
The raid was led by Inspector Ashish Sharma under ACP Sunil Srivastava, with overall supervision from DCP Pankaj Kumar.
The team recovered thousands of filled and empty toothpaste tubes, packaging boxes, caps, wrappers, glue, and sealing equipment. Around 130 kg of fake paste stored in drums was also seized.
Investigations revealed that workers were hired to carry out the operation. The factory owner, 58-year-old Hariom Mishra, was arrested and confessed to producing and selling counterfeit toothpaste from a rented warehouse.
In total, more than 3,000 filled fake toothpaste tubes, over 10,000 empty tubes, and a large stock of packaging materials and machinery were seized during the raid.
