An 18-year-old youth lost his life in a late-night hit-and-run accident on Koba Road in Gandhinagar, raising concerns over road safety in the area.
The deceased, Himangshu Arjunbhai Sharma, was originally from West Bengal and lived in Randesan. He worked as a kitchen helper at a hotel in Kudasan.
According to Infocity police, the incident took place near Sukan Sky Apartment while he was walking along the road. A speeding car, allegedly driven recklessly, hit him, causing severe injuries.
Locals rushed him to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital with the help of a 108 ambulance, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
After the accident, the driver abandoned the car and fled the spot. Police have registered a case and are searching for the accused.
