Light showers on Friday evening brought relief to Ahmedabad, making it a cooler day than usual. Most parts of the city received moderate rain, while some eastern areas saw strong winds and brief hail.
Places like Bakrol, Kathwada, Singarva, and parts of Ramol experienced gusty winds along with rain and hail. The weather remained humid during the day but changed suddenly around 6 pm. By late evening, the skies cleared and temperatures settled.
The rainfall was caused by a Western Disturbance, which also led to showers in several parts of Gujarat.
Across the state, rain was recorded in multiple districts. Kalyanpur in Devbhumi Dwarka received 26 mm rainfall, Patan-Veraval in Gir Somnath got 25 mm, and Bhavnagar recorded 17 mm by evening.
Temperatures dropped across cities, with Ahmedabad recording a maximum of 34.2°C, which is 4.2 degrees below normal. The minimum temperature was 24.1°C, slightly above normal. In most parts of Gujarat, maximum temperatures ranged between 30°C and 35°C.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), similar weather with partly cloudy skies is expected in Ahmedabad on Saturday. The department also noted an upper air cyclonic circulation over Gujarat.
While the current Western Disturbance is likely to weaken from Saturday, reducing chances of heavy rain, another Western Disturbance is expected to affect the region from April 7.
