After petrol and diesel, CNG prices have now gone up in the city. Adani Total Gas Limited has increased the CNG price by ₹1.50 per kg, taking the new rate to ₹83.77 per kg. The hike comes amid concerns over fuel supply linked to tensions in the Middle East.
Earlier this year, the company had cut prices, offering some relief. However, within a short span, rates have been increased twice. Since February, the total hike has reached ₹2.00, which is higher than the ₹1.21 reduction announced on January 1.
Price changes in 2026:
January 1: ₹1.21 cut
February 7: ₹0.50 hike
April 2: ₹1.50 hike.
The latest increase is expected to directly affect the middle class and the transport sector. Auto-rickshaw drivers may see higher daily costs, which could lead to fare hikes. Taxi and cab operators are also likely to increase charges, impacting passengers.
With prices of essential goods already rising from April 1, this hike will add more pressure on household budgets. While petrol and diesel prices remain stable due to ongoing assembly elections, experts believe prices may rise after the elections conclude.
