Ahmedabad is gearing up for a major upgrade in sports infrastructure with the upcoming launch of the Vastral Sports Complex. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the state-of-the-art facility on March 31, 2026. Built at a cost exceeding ₹61 crore, this complex aims to provide young athletes in East Ahmedabad access to top-notch training facilities.
Located near S.P. Ring Road, the complex spans an area of 44,764 square meters and is designed for easy accessibility from various parts of the city and neighboring districts.
The facility boasts an impressive array of amenities for both indoor and outdoor sports. Outdoor offerings include a 400-meter athletics track, a football field, four tennis courts, and even a long jump pit. Indoors, there are dedicated courts for badminton, volleyball, basketball, and a hall specifically for table tennis.
One standout feature is its modern swimming pool measuring 25 by 20 meters, complete with advanced filtration systems. Athletes can also benefit from a fully equipped gym that includes steam rooms and jacuzzis to aid their recovery.
To enhance player development further, a centrally air-conditioned library and cafeteria covering over 1,964 square meters will accommodate up to 120 people. A multipurpose hall designed for martial arts like judo and yoga rounds out the offerings.
The spectator gallery can seat between 100 to 170 individuals—ideal for hosting large sporting events. Additionally, basement parking has been arranged for up to 91 two-wheelers and 40 cars.
This new sports complex is anticipated to bolster the sporting culture in East Ahmedabad while serving as an essential hub for nurturing talent at both state and national levels.
