Sources: Domestic Flights to Rise 5%, International Flights by 25% in March–October Summer Schedule
Ahmedabad’s air travel is set to become busier and better connected as the summer flight schedule takes effect, bringing additional domestic and international flights, new destinations, and increased cargo operations.
Currently, Ahmedabad airport handles around 280–300 flight movements daily. With the March–October summer schedule, officials expect both passenger and cargo flights to see a noticeable rise compared to the winter schedule.
Sources at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport said domestic flights are expected to increase by approximately 5%, while international flights could grow by around 25% weekly compared to the winter months. Azerbaijan Airlines is set to begin services between Ahmedabad and Baku, while SriLankan Airlines and FitsAir plan a total of six weekly flights connecting Ahmedabad and Colombo. IndiGo will operate two daily flights from Ahmedabad to Phuket and four to Doha.
On the domestic front, airlines are boosting frequencies on several busy routes. IndiGo plans to add more flights to Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Jaipur, and Pune, while SpiceJet is likely to increase frequencies to Bengaluru and Pune and launch new services to Hyderabad and Chandigarh. IndiGo is also expanding its network across Gujarat, further enhancing regional connectivity.
