As summer rolls in, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of rising temperatures starting this Sunday. On Saturday, Ahmedabad recorded a maximum temperature of 34.2°C, and experts predict an increase of about 2°C to 3°C over the next two days.
Keshod in Junagadh took the title for the hottest spot in the state on Saturday with a blistering 35°C. With temperatures climbing, residents are urged to take necessary precautions against prolonged exposure to heat and sunlight.
According to an IMD expert, this change in weather patterns is primarily due to a cyclonic circulation active over western Rajasthan. But there’s some good news on the horizon—another Western Disturbance is set to move into the region soon. While it won’t have a significant impact on Gujarat’s current weather, it may bring some relief from high temperatures after about a week.
The minimum temperature across various locations currently sits at 1°C to 2°C above normal levels, which is expected to rise another couple of degrees within the next day or so before stabilizing.
Looking at specific forecasts for today (March 22), Ahmedabad is likely to see highs around 36°C while Gandhinagar could reach approximately 35°C. Continued dry conditions are anticipated across Gujarat for at least the upcoming week, with no strong winds expected along coastal areas.
