In a shocking case emerging from Rajkot, a local doctor has become the target of an alleged extortion plot involving a hidden camera and a large sum of money. Authorities report that this incident stems from private footage captured without consent in one of the doctor’s clinics.
The complainant, who operates clinics near Hanuman Madhi Chowk and on Sadhu Vaswani Road, discovered he was being filmed during his visits to his second clinic. Police say the recording device was secretly installed by Dr. Kamal Nandha, another physician from nearby, who purchased the camera online in 2023 and set it up in the injection room.
Over time, it reportedly recorded approximately 3,000 videos featuring the complainant’s personal moments with a female friend. Following this breach of privacy, Dr. Nandha allegedly began blackmailing the victim in 2024, initially demanding ₹1 crore before settling on a reduced figure of ₹25 lakh as more accomplices joined him.
Crime Branch Deputy Commissioner Jagdish Bangarwa is leading an investigation into how this scheme unfolded. The accused repeatedly contacted the victim both over phone and face-to-face, threatening to leak sensitive material unless their demands were met.
After enduring continuous intimidation tactics, including threats to his reputation and even his life, the doctor finally sought help from law enforcement officials at the Crime Branch. As a result, they have filed charges at the Cyber Crime Police Station against Dr. Nandha and several others involved.
The investigation has revealed that co-defendants Hiren Makwana, Ajaysinh Chudasama, and Hardik Dodiya received access to the incriminating video as well. Notably, two individuals—Jatin Nathwani and Jagdish Teraiya—managed to extort ₹50,000 from him under duress while issuing deadlines for further payments.
The police are also looking into whether any media outlets associated with those accused are properly registered as part of their ongoing inquiry into this disturbing case.
