At least 35 students from the Dubai campus of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) have been moved temporarily to the main campus in Ahmedabad. This decision comes as tensions escalate in the Middle East, particularly involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.
The students are part of an executive MBA program that had recently traveled to Spain for a management study trip aimed at supply chain management. However, disruptions in regional airspace due to rising tensions prevented their timely return to Dubai.
To avoid further academic interruptions, officials at IIM-A opted to relocate the students to Ahmedabad. They’ll be participating in in-person classes there until conditions improve. “Moving them was seen as a better option compared to uncertain travel back home or switching everything online,” one official noted.
This move is understood to be a temporary measure. The students are expected back at their Dubai campus once things stabilize in the region. Importantly, the Dubai campus remains operational; however, this is not the first time disruptions have affected students abroad. Recently, around 80 students from a Pune management institute also faced similar challenges during an overseas study tour.
