Surat, India — A SpiceJet flight traveling from Dubai to Mumbai was unexpectedly diverted to Surat International Airport on the morning of March 14, 2026. The aircraft, identified as SG5514, safely touched down at approximately 8:20 AM following reports of technical problems with its GPS and radar systems.
With 178 passengers and crew aboard, the plane remained grounded at Surat after landing. Since it couldn’t continue to Mumbai, arrangements were made for alternative transportation. Passengers underwent necessary immigration and customs procedures at the airport before boarding buses destined for Mumbai around 3:10 PM.
Initially, some passengers weren’t eager to leave the aircraft. About twenty travelers heading further south refused to disembark until they received confirmation regarding their onward journey from Mumbai. After discussions with airport officials, they finally agreed to exit the plane by around 2:30 PM and joined the rest on their way to Mumbai.
