Ahmedabad, February 26, 2026 — The Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has officially launched the Class 10 (SSC) and Class 12 (HSC) board examinations today. More than 16.63 lakh students are set to participate in this year’s exams, which will run until mid-March.
Of the total candidates, over 9.07 lakh students are tackling the Class 10 exams. For Class 12, over 5.01 lakh candidates are from the General stream while more than 1.19 lakh are enrolled in the Science stream, including those appearing for GUJCET.
On Day One of the exams, Class 10 students are writing their First Language paper, which includes options such as Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, English, Urdu, Sindhi, Tamil, Telugu and Odia. Meanwhile, Class 12 students will take important subjects like Physics for Science students and Sahkar Panchayat for those in General/Commerce streams.
The duration of each exam paper is three hours. Students have been advised to arrive at their examination centres at least half an hour to an hour before their tests begin.
Candidates need to double-check information on their admit cards regarding subject names and timings. The hall ticket is crucial; it contains essential details like name, photograph, registration number and roll number.
In addition to their admit cards, students must bring a valid school ID card along with blue or black ballpoint pens—extra pens are recommended—transparent water bottles and clear stationery pouches for basic items like pencils or erasers if needed.
The Board has emphasized that students should carefully fill out OMR sheets and adhere strictly to instructions from invigilators while maintaining a calm demeanor during tests.
The state government has ensured necessary facilities and security measures at examination centres to guarantee smooth operations throughout this significant period of academic assessment across Gujarat.
