Smt NHL Municipal Medical College in Ahmedabad is stepping up its game in the medical education field. On February 20, the National Medical Commission (NMC) approved the college to launch two new super-speciality programs for the upcoming academic year of 2026-27.
Specifically, the college will offer DM Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology and MCh Urology, each with two seats available. This means a total of four new super-speciality seats are now part of their offering. It’s a big deal for Gujarat, as it marks the introduction of the first DM course dedicated to Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology in the state.
The focus of these courses is on autoimmune diseases and complex rheumatic disorders—areas that have been gaining prominence in medical studies. And both programs will take place at SVP Hospital, known for its advanced infrastructure and specialized medical teams. This upgrade not only broadens educational opportunities but also boosts access to critical tertiary care for patients dealing with serious conditions related to joints or urological health.
With this approval, NHL Municipal Medical College is set to play an even bigger role in improving healthcare services across Gujarat. As they begin this journey into super-speciality medicine, many will be watching closely to see how it impacts patient care and medical training in the region.
