Surat International Airport is set to enhance its passenger experience with the launch of several new amenities. Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu will inaugurate these upgrades virtually on Friday from Coimbatore Airport.
Among the highlights is the introduction of the UDAN Yatri Café, which aims to offer hygienic and affordable food options for travelers. Prices are wallet-friendly: samosas will be ₹20 each, tea at ₹10, coffee at ₹20, and sweet treats for ₹20 as well.
Airport Director Anand Narayan Sharma shared that five key facilities are being launched to improve convenience for passengers. Besides the café, there’s a dedicated children’s play area designed specifically for families traveling with kids.
The launch also marks the official rollout of Digi Yatra—an innovative system that allows paperless entry into the airport through facial recognition technology. This was trialed last year and had faced interruptions due to staff protests over salary delays in late 2025. With this upgrade, passengers can bypass traditional security checks and move swiftly through the terminal.
The Avsar outlet will join these amenities under the ‘One Airport One Product’ initiative. This store provides space for local self-help groups to showcase unique products, supporting grassroots entrepreneurship in Gujarat.
Additionally, enhanced Wi-Fi services will ensure that all travelers stay connected during their time at Surat Airport—important for both business travelers and students alike.
