Unseasonal rain likely in parts of Gujarat, nights turn warmer

Unseasonal rain is likely in parts of Gujarat over the next 24 hours as a fresh western disturbance influences the region, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday. Light rain and thundershowers are expected at isolated places in several districts of North and South Gujarat.

In North Gujarat, districts such as Aravalli, Kheda, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod and Mahisagar may receive light rain or thundershowers. Similar weather conditions are forecast at isolated locations in South Gujarat, including Vadodara and Bharuch.

Ahmedabad and nearby areas are likely to see partly cloudy skies, with the minimum temperature expected to remain around 19°C.

Meanwhile, minimum temperatures across Gujarat have risen sharply, remaining 5–7°C above normal in most districts. IMD data shows that Ahmedabad recorded a minimum temperature of 19.5°C, which is 6.1°C higher than the seasonal average. Naliya in Kutch recorded the lowest minimum temperature in the state at 12.5°C.

Weather conditions remained dry across Gujarat, Saurashtra-Kutch and the Union Territories of Diu, Daman and Dadra and Nagar Haveli during the 24-hour period ending at 8.30 pm on February 2.
