The Budget Session of the Gujarat Assembly will begin on February 16 and continue until March 25, with the state Budget for 2026–27 to be presented on February 17, Speaker Shankar Chaudhary announced on Friday.
The session will span 23 days and include a total of 26 sittings. Governor Acharya Devvrat will address the Assembly on the opening day, February 16. A condolence motion for state leaders who passed away recently will also be taken up on the same day.
According to the Speaker, three sittings have been set aside for discussion on the Governor’s address. Four sittings each have been allocated for government business and the passage of bills, as well as for general discussion on the Budget.
Twelve sittings will be devoted to discussions on demands for grants from various departments, while two sittings are reserved for supplementary demands. Six sittings have been earmarked for non-government business.
For the eighth session of the 15th Gujarat Legislative Assembly, five groups of ministers have been formed to answer starred questions. MLAs can begin submitting questions on constituency and state issues from Saturday, either online or offline, the Speaker said.
