Ahmedabad commuters may get relief from traffic jams by mid-2026, as three key overbridges — the Makarba Railway Overbridge, the Hebatpur Railway Overbridge and the Sattadhar Flyover — are expected to be completed in the next seven months.
Officials said the projects are progressing well and are scheduled for completion between February and June 2026.
The Makarba–Torrent Power railway overbridge is now 93% complete on the approach side after a recent design change. The 636.89-metre bridge, costing ₹80.63 crore, has most foundation and substructure work finished. About 65% of railway-section work is done, and the bridge is set to open by March 2026. Nearly 1.5 lakh commuters from Makarba, Sarkhej and Corporate Road areas are expected to benefit.
Work on the Hebatpur railway overbridge — linking Thaltej to Science City — is also moving quickly. The 679-metre-long, four-lane bridge costing ₹74.15 crore has completed its major structural work, with 85% progress on the approach and 73% on the rail section. It is expected to be ready by June 2026 and will help around 1.5 lakh commuters.
Standing Committee chairman Devang Dani said the 975-metre Sattadhar flyover is also in its final phase. With 85% work complete and a project cost of ₹103.63 crore, the flyover is expected to open by February 2026. It will ease traffic in Ghatlodia, Sola, Thaltej and Chandkheda.
