Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has asserted that the state government will not tolerate any compromise in the quality of state highways or roadworks in major cities and towns.
In a high-level meeting with mayors, standing committee chairpersons, municipal commissioners and regional commissioners, the CM instructed that pothole repairs must be taken up on priority. He also directed officials, municipal commissioners and deputy commissioners to conduct regular field inspections and submit on-site reports by November 30.
The CM further ordered the construction of RCC diversion roads at sites where bridge work is ongoing, to ensure smooth traffic flow and avoid inconvenience to citizens.
Patel said strict action will be taken if roads deteriorate during the maintenance guarantee period, including immediate blacklisting of contractors. Over 13 contractors have already been blacklisted this year for substandard work.
Deputy CM Harsh Sanghavi added that repair work must be carried out in a way that citizens can clearly see improvement, especially in busy areas such as railway stations, bus stations and markets.
