AI-Based RTO Driving Tracks to Make Tests Easier

AI-Based RTO Driving Tracks to Make Tests Easier

The “dreaded” driving test at the Subhash Bridge RTO — known for failing even skilled drivers over minor mistakes — is set for a major upgrade.

New, larger AI-driven test tracks will soon be operational at Subhash Bridge, Gandhinagar and Bavla RTOs, allowing applicants to take tests in their own SUVs and sedans without anxiety. The upgraded track will feature 22 cameras, with the entire process — from booking appointments to document verification — handled through Artificial Intelligence, ensuring zero human interference.

Regional Transport Officer Nirav Baxi said the Subhash Bridge RTO will get three new tracks, with one launching in December and the others following in phases.

He added that the current track, built 15–20 years ago, is outdated, prone to technical issues, and too small for bigger vehicles. The new setup will allow drivers to confidently take tests in larger cars.

The Gandhinagar track will be ready by month-end, while the Ahmedabad and Bavla tracks will open in December. Despite a year-long delay due to technical issues, the model will eventually be replicated across all 39 RTOs in Gujarat.

The AI-based system is also expected to curb agent-led malpractices. According to RTO sources, agents often diverted applicants to Gandhinagar, Vastral or Bavla — where tests were easier to “manage.” With the new tracks going live soon, agents are reportedly rushing to process applications that can still be manipulated.
